Venezuela is facing a severe political, economic and humanitarian crisis. In January 2019, opposition figure Juan Guaidó declared himself interim President, gaining important regional and international support. However, President Nicolás Maduro remains largely in control of the state, backed by chavismo and the armed forces. DAG is supporting political dialogue in Venezuela – both between the different political actors in the country, and between these actors and key states from the region and internationally – to work towards a negotiated solution of the crisis.
